As part of the social service program of my university, I chose to fulfill my external community service in the institution of RETOS. This institution has the duty to give help to people with disabilities. My role was to go there and be around these extraordinary people, play with them and help them with anything they may need.
My experience while I was there was pretty good, it was similar to my time in the nursing home but at the same time different. I enjoyed spending my time around them and I learned a thing or two about this people with disabilities. I would totally recommend anybody to volunteer for any similar experience.

As part of our high school social service program, we had to go to this nursing home for a total of 30 hours per semester.
We had to be around the elderly people, chat with them, play any of the games or activities they were allowed to do and to help them with anything they needed.
I personally liked a lot doing my social service there since I felt that I was making somebody happy by just chatting with them and caring for them. Besides that, I really enjoyed being around the elderly since most of them are fun and normal persons like most people, the downside is that it is really sad to see how their own families abandon them there and they are just waiting for someone that may never come to see them. At the end, I finished completely my social service and if I could go there again, I definitely would.
I personally think of myself as someone who is fully capable of fulfilling any task given, since I like being good at what I do and always keep improving.
